The miracle of massage.

More than a luxury

Many people think of massage as a luxury that makes them feel good. But it's really much more than that. Massage can work wonders by improving both your physical and mental health.

Massage therapy as a healing art has been around since the beginning of time. When performed correctly, massage can provide valuable health benefits.

For example, when we are under stress, our muscles are tense, breathing is shallow, blood pressure increases and our immune system is weakened. By relaxing the body, massage helps to counteract all of these reactions to stress. Massage therapy can also:

  • Relax muscles
  • Increase circulation
  • Reduce or relieve pain
  • Soften and reduce scars
  • Enhance sports and fitness activities
  • Reduce water retention
  • Improve appearance of skin

Usually, a combination of styles will be used during a session to address the individual's specific concerns.

Swedish

Generally considered the mildest form of massage, Swedish uses oil or lotion and gliding and kneading strokes. Great for relaxation, increasing circulation and eliminating toxins.

Shiatsu (Accupressure)

A Japanese pressure point therapy based on the principle that the energy of life, chi, flows through the body along clearly defined channels. Shiatsu is usually performed with the person fully clothed. It is particularly useful in relieving muscle tension and increasing energy flow.

Therapeutic Massage (Rehabilitation & Sports Massage)

This form of massage is mainly used for pain relief or athletic training. It goes deeper than Swedish massage and incorporates techniques such as stretching and trigger point therapy. Therapeutic massage helps to prevent potential injuries by relaxing tight and fatigued muscles and improving conditioning. It also helps to speed recovery following an injury.

Lomi Lomi

A traditional Hawaiian massage that has been passed down from generation to generation. Lomi Lomi uses long, stimulating strokes to increase blood flow to tissues and ease strain on the heart. It is both a spiritual and physical healing method.

Reflexology

Reflexology is based on the concept that the body is divided into 10 vertical zones. The zones can be stimulated into a healthier condition by applying pressure on specific points of the feet or hands, which relate to various parts of the body. Like Shiatsu, a full reflexology session is usually performed with the person fully clothed. Reflexology has a very relaxing effect.

Trigger Point Therapy

Great for pain relief. Trigger point uses deep pressure on tender, congested spots of muscle tissue that may radiate pain to other parts of the body. Also used in medical massage for sprains or strains.

Cranial-Sacral Massage

A light massage pressure on the bones of the head and lower back to free any restrictions in movement. This therapy aids many conditions, restoring the flow of energy, reinstating physical, emotional and mental well-being. An excellent choice for migraines and headaches.

Hot Stones

A relaxing massage using heated basalt and chilled marble stones to soothe tired muscles and release tension, leaving you feeling refreshed and renewed.

Pregnancy Massage

This specialized form of massage can help relieve discomforts commonly experienced during pregnancy. Relaxation and stress relief during pregnancy are beneficial not only for mom, but for baby as well. A special body cushion is used to allow safe and comfortable positioning during the massage. With your physician's approval, massage can be done through the ninth month of pregnancy.
